Monkey Bizness

Today, since all the playgrounds were too wet to visit, we met Alice's friend Julia (and her mom and baby brother of course) at a place called Monkey Bizness. It's basically a big warehouse full of different giant inflatables that kids can jump on and slide down, etc...

Georgie held onto me like a scared cat the whole time we were there so I could only get pictures of Alice. But, I think this picture captured the mood of the day pretty well.

Georgie fell asleep on as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot and Alice went upstairs and tried put herself to bed before she'd even had lunch. For my money, it doesn't get much better than that.

Two In the Bed

Alice's buddy Nate has started coming to our house for 2 or 3 days a week instead of going to daycare. Today, they ran around all morning like their pants were on fire and then crashed.

Rain, Rain Go Away

It's been rainy and/or wet in Houston for weeks now. Sunday was the first day we've seen the sunshine in I don't remember how long. So, we went outside to enjoy it!

I started to teach Gigi how to play soccer (or football to our English readers) but she didn't need any help. The kid's a natural. Our camera was too slow to get any action shots but I got some nice ones of her holding the ball. We'll work on the 'hand ball' concept next time it stops raining.

Alice the Fairy

Alice's favorite book is 'Alice the Fairy'.

Her favorite doll is Ava Moo Cow (who has fairy wings).

So, it only follows that Alice's new favorite thing is.....

Her Very Own Fairy Wings!!!
She sleeps in them, wears them over her coat or with nothing at all. If you're looking for a pair of your own, they've got them at Target for $1 now.

Mom and Dad's Weekend Alone...

Thanks to Memo and Papa, Nick and I finally got a weekend to ourselves. I'd like to say we're relaxing and drinking mimosas by the pool but there's supposed to be an ice storm tonight/tomorrow and we've got a lot on the agenda. Today we ran the half-marathon and started painting our bedroom. We are also planning on going to see movies and eat peaceful dinners; during which no one throws anything onto someone else's table, I don't have to cut up anyone's food except my own and the words 'stop that' and 'no' will not be uttered.

By popular demand....

This is Aba Moo Cow...

Alice got Aba Moo Cow when we got rid of the pacis for good. (Georgia got a Big Bird Doll that she insists on calling 'Duck' even though she's perfectly capable of saying 'Big Bird'). We went to 'Build A Bear Workshop' and traded the pacis for a stuffed animal of their choice. Alice picked out a cow and, of course, the cow had to have it's own special 'la-la' so she picked that out too. After you've gotten your animal stuffed and dressed they have you pick out a name. So, we asked Alice what she wanted to name her cow. She said, "school mat". We told her that 'school mat' is not really a name but maybe she could pick a name from one of her school friends. Her favorite friend at school is named Ava, so that was the winner.

70 degrees in January

It was in the low 70s today in Houston so after Gigi and I picked Alice up from school we took some toys outside to play. Mostly, they swung and screamed but Alice also insisted on playing 'Ring Around the Rosie' with mom over and over again. She calls it 'Rosey Pockets'. (except it sounds like 'row-ee pah-etsh' - as you can read she's still have trouble with her 's' and 'k' sounds).

All in all, it was a great afternoon for all of the Pooley girls (including Tess, who enjoyed chasing the tennis ball and some neighborhood squirrels).

These are a few of my favorite things....

Alice has been expressing herself through her wardrobe for a while but it seems that a little of that has rubbed off on Georgia now. Alice's favorite clothing of the moment is her rain boots and Georgia wants to wear the "Nemo chir".

This is how we left the house yesterday....
